I am a science fiction, fantasy, and horror storyteller. My sapphic short story, Long Live Anacaona Guey, was nominated for a PushCart Prize, and my YA sci-fi The Brainstitcher’s Daughter received second-place from YA VOYAGE. In addition to writing, I’ve served on the SFWA Romance Steering Committee, and am a member of SCBWI and James Rivers Writers. Before I leapt in the world of writing, I worked for two years as an AmeriCorps member, received the Governor’s Award for my volunteer service, and worked for a health literacy research center.

I was born in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, and am inspired by my Black and Chinese heritage. My stories range from obsessive cyborgs to unrelenting, indigenous dragon keepers. But above all, my stories are about finding love even in the darkness.

When I’m not writing, I like to plan out adventures for my family of five. We have also have a Siberian Husky named Echo who’s favorite thing to do is escape for hours on end with the intention of giving me a heart attack. It’s okay—I love him anyways.

Anything related to forests, the moon, and Star Wars is my jam. I currently live in the Washington, D.C area.

I am represented by Marcy Posner at Folio Literary Management.
