My first ever creative writing intern is officially on board! Without further ado, please welcome:
Karla Capellan to the team! Karla is a sophomore student at Magruder High School, a passionate writer, and a lady with strong ambitions. Guise- Karla is amazing and even submitted a deadline 12 hours in advance and has already asked for more work. I can’t keep up with her – and I LOVE it! How lucky am ?!
I interviewed Karla for the blog. Hope you love this girl as much as I do!
Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi! My name is Karla and I’m a sophomore at Magruder High School. I’m friendly, easy to get along with, and of course, I’m a writer. I write in Spanish and English. I was born in the Dominican Republic and am proud of my ethnicity.
How did you get into writing?
I didn’t like writing at all. The first time I had to write something longer than three lines for a paragraph was for a class a couple of years ago. My teacher wanted us to write a novel with, at least, 30 pages. We had the whole year to write it and it could be about anything you wanted with as many characters. I was NOT happy.
However, as the days passed, writing became more interesting and addicting. About a year later, I published the novel online. I was scared and honestly, skeptical – I mean, who goes on the internet to read books? Not many people… or so I thought. My book now holds a total of five thousand (5k) readers on Wattpad, more than three hundred votes, and plenty of people have it on their reading lists. The recently published sequel has over two thousand (2k) readers and is growing rapidly, aiming to surpass the first book in readership.
What are you most excited for this internship?
Where do you want to be in 5 years? 10 years?
So many things to do! In five years, I plan to be an English major. My dream in 10 years is to have at least one of my own books published in print and, hopefully, have a writing career alongside large lapdogs and a family.
What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
My favorite hobbies are writing fiction stories and pencil drawing.
